Vane Shear Apparatus (Field Type) is designed for conducting in situ vane shear test from bottom of a borehole in saturated cohesive deposits for determining their in place shearing resistance. Specifications: The equipment consists of a torque applicator assembly mounted on a base. A gear wheel, which is marked in degrees, holds a torque ring and is geared to a crank.
A typical vane shear test kit usually contains the following items:

- Extension rods, usually D20/D22x1000 mm
- Spanner for extension rod
- 2 or 3 Vane sizes. Commin sizes: 19×38 mm, 25x50mm, 30x60mm, 75.8×151.5 mm
